Windows 8 recently launched by Microsoft for
use on Personal Computer including all type of desktop, Laptops, Tablets.
Development of windows 8 started back in 2009 itself. And it launched on Friday 26, October 2012 in 37 languages and 140 worldwide markets.

This is second edition after window 95, in which
"Start" bottom not available on the task bar as we can see pic for
windows 8 above.
Windows 8 introduces significant changes to the OS platform, primarily
focused towards improving its experience on Mobile devices to rival other
mobile OS like Android and iOS.

The First Version of Microsoft Windows, Version 1.0 Released
in November 1985, But it is not complete OS rather it was extended version of
MS-DOS.
Then in November 1987 second version of Microsoft window
called, version 2.0 was released and in January 1988 windows 2.03 released also
changed OS from Tiled windows to overlapping windows. This change leds to APPLE
Computer filing a suit against Microsoft on Apple's copyrights.
After few years Microsoft Released windows version 3.0 in
90's and also it was First Microsoft Window version, which made history by
selling 2 million copies in first six months. It came with improved UI features
and Multitasking capabilities. And window 3.1 came in 1992.
In 1993, A special version was launched with integrated
peer-to-peer networking and called window version 3.11 and support on 3.11
version ended in 31 Dec 2001.
In July 1993, Window NT version was released which was based
on a New kernel and first version released under it was windows NT 3.1, It was
first windows version to utilize PREEMPTIVE multitasking.
Windows 95 released date 24th August, 1995, it came with new
and major consumer version that made further changes to the UI(user interface)
and also Preemptive multitasking and some more changes in it. Support for
windows 95 ended on Dec 31, 2000 and extended support ended 31 dec., 2001.
Next from Microsoft was Windows 98 released on July 1998 and
also it was followed by its second edition windows98 SE in 1999. Mainstream
support for windows 98 ended on july 30, 2002 and extended support on July 11,
2006.
Windows 2000 released from Microsoft in Feb 2000 for use on
both Client and Server computers. And also during 04 its source code was
leaked. The Window Millennium Edition Extended version of windows 98 called
Windows ME released in Sept. 2000.
Microsoft most successful, most users friendly, most usable
Operation System released on October 2001 called Windows XP, a version built on
the Windows NT kernel that also retained the consumer-oriented usability of
Windows 95 and its successors.
This version came in two distinct editions named,
"HOME" and "PROFESSIONAL". Along with this First
"Media Center" edition was released in 2002, with support for DVD and
TV functionality including program recording and remote control. Mainstream
support for Windows XP ended on April 14, 2009. Extended support will continue
until April 8, 2014.
In April 2003, OS for Server called Windows Server 2003 was
introduced. Which replaces Windows 2000 with many new features and strong
security and also it was followed by windows Server 2003 R2 in Dec. 2005.
Window Vista came in picture in January 30, 2007 with many
new feature and security aspects But was not successful afterall.
On Oct. 22, 2009, Microsoft released Windows 7 with more
feature than Vista and it was a Successful edition after Xp.
Now Windows 8 came on Feb 29, 2012.

Keyboard shortcuts for Windows 8
ReplyDeleteWindows key + Q: Search. This opens the search charm, set to whichever app you're currently using. You can quickly switch to a files search with Windows+F, or settings with Windows+W.
Windows+C: Open the Charms bar
Windows+H: Share charm
Windows+I: Settings charm
Windows+Z: Displays the app bar. This gives contextual options in each app.
Windows+X: opens the admin menu, which appears where the Start menu used to be.
Windows+D: Shows the traditional desktop. Press again to minimise all desktop windows.
Windows+L: Locks your computer and displays the Lock screen.
Alt+F4: Close current app. Also, you can use your mouse to click at the top of an app and drag it to the bottom of the screen.
